Thermal vs Inkjet printing. Which is a “better” choice? If  you look closely at the above photo you may be able to notice that the disc on the left is glossy and the disc on the right has a matte finish. The matte finish does not have a protective coating to protect the artwork like the thermal print on the left which is why inkjet printing is more cost effective than the thermal prints. Depending on your strategy for delivering your discs, inkjet is very popular for the free handouts and the thermal is popular for longevity and retail purchases.
